About 20Knots

20Knots is a fashion label for sailors.

20Knots wants to differentiates sailors from the rest!

20Knots is a sailing brand, a friend, a constant in the lives of our sport. We currently produce t-shirts and in the very near future plan to release a polo shirt range amongst other products.

The 20Knots team - Peter and Lyndall Talbot.

What was Peter wearing then?

Peter Talbot isn’t really into fashion. Until he met his wife, Lyndall, most of his shopping was done at op-shops. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…but he wasn’t exactly edgy. Married life altered his image a little. He smartened up his act and had to keep up with a gal who put a little more store in to what her guy was wearing (the famous quote was “you may not own a suit, but any guy going out with me, must”). As Peter became ever aware of fashion his own style became a burden to bear. Yep, Mr sailor found himself continually wearing surfing shirts. Ok so that’s not so bad, they’re great designs, pretty cool, but Pete’s a sailor, through and through. And nothing bugged him more than throwing on a shirt that said “surfer” when clearly he isn’t. So, what’s a sailor to do when faced with this problem? Start up a t-shirt company and design his own shirts. Of course!

What’s he wearing now?

Peter now rotates the five t-shirts in the 20Knots range on a daily basis (sometimes 2 designs can be glimpsed in the same day), and nothing will keep him more motivated than wanting to keep up his supply of good looking shirts. As you can imagine, Lyndall’s particularly keen to increase the range as she has to look at him wearing the same five shirts all the time!

When they’re not prancing about in 20knots shirts, who are Peter and Lyndall?
Peter is a sailor who moonlights as a Project Manager in construction. His sailing history started when he was 8 at Teralba Sailing Club, sailing Sabots with his big sister. His latest sailing sees him racing with Croudace Bay Sailing Club on his Sonata 8, named Mojo. Lyndall’s a stay-at-home Mum who moonlights as a marketer. Her first sailing experience was when she did a course in sailing, without knowing anyone with a yacht! Strangely, just as she finished her course, she met Peter…who just happened to have a yacht and needed a crew….
